Wedding Updates

So Friday will be the official 3 month mark till the wedding. Although I have most everything completed except for some "craft" items and things I cannot do till the week or two before, I still don't like waiting till the last minute. I feel relaxed still and not to stressed.

Friday, I went with Allison, my sister-in-law to pick up her bridesmaid dress (which I love the dresses by the way!). While she was trying on her dress the lady at the shop noted that it looks like I lost quite a bit of weight since I was fitted for my dress. I disagreed. She wanted me to try on the display dress again to compare that size, which was a 14, to the size that we ordered - an 18. At the time I ordered my dress, my measurements were in-between an 18 and 20, so we opted to order the smaller size. (Side note - there is no way I would ever wear an 18...I had to order it that big to fit the ta-tas in. However - I couldn't even begin to zip the size 14 display). So, I went ahead and tried on the 14 again and much to my surprise, it zipped all the way up...until it reached the girls. I couldn't believe it! In 3 months I had dropped 2 dress sizes! My secret? Nothing secret at all really, I don't exercise, I don't diet...all I did was stop drinking soda and cut some the sweets out that I typically eat in a day. It was all pretty simple really.

Passing Time

So, its been quite a while since I wrote anything on my blog. Usually its because I'm either busy, or feel I have nothing beneficial to write about. Today I'm using this to pass some time until I get off work. I know not too many people read my blog postings, but for those that do, I'll try to keep from boring you as much as possible.

It is currently 134 days from my wedding. Most everything is done. Just some small stuff left to do. Nothing really to stress about - except for one little aspect - which I really do not care to discuss publicly. All in all, I'm very happy about the way that everything is coming together and Tony couldn't be happier that he doesn't have bridezilla on his hands. I guess the fact that I'm going for very simple - which means that I'm pretty simple to please when it comes to the small details. Our biggest task left is deciding on where to go for our honeymoon. We had originally wanted to go to Jamaica, but then dad offered to let us use his timeshare and the resort in Jamaica was not available during our time frame. But I have found some pretty good deals in Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas - if we leave the Saturday after our wedding...which I'm ok with, but Tony wants to go right away. To save $1,000, I really don't understand what the issue is. Guess I'm just frugal with my money.

Speaking of wedding....I've attempted in the last few weeks/months to drop a few lbs. I have a gym membership that I use maybe once a week on Saturday. That is not cutting it. Tony and I have a been bike riding, weather permitting about 5.5 miles per day and that doesn't seem to be helping - I've dropped a little, but not enough. I've been reading a lot of posts about this 30 day shred and have decided to give it a try. I ordered the DVD to try through my blockbuster subscription and it should be here Monday. As much as I am looking forward to this, I'm really not. I hate excising. I don't like to sweat and I don't like feeling like I'm going to vomit after I'm done. I'd try running, but that is just so ineffective for me. I come home with two black eyes and chest pain....and I'm not talking pains in my chest from my heart or lungs. My extremities bounce to much for me to run.

In another effort to ditch some of my weight, I've quit drinking soda as much as possible. I wish quitting smoking was as easy for me as that was.

Wedding Day: November 21, 2009

As I'm sure most who follow my blog know, Tony and I got engaged last Monday. Since then, we have been EXTREMELY busy planning this shindig which will take place this November 21, 2009. Yes, we know that is soon, but this way I'm only stressed for less than 5 months...not an entire year. I work much better under pressure anyway. We have already managed to secure the reception hall, order my dress, book the photographer, book the DJ, and put down payments on a couple of churches to hold the date until we decide on one. I'll try to post some pics of things as they come along. So, far here are the vendors we are using...

Reception: Yacovelli's
Photographer: Kris Bueltmann Photography
DJ: Goodtimes Entertainment / Tim Bussen
Dress Designer: Casablanca

Anyone know from past experience, etc. where you can get a good deal on invitations? More to come!

For Jamie...

It seems that people really tend to notice when I don't blog regularly. Sometimes its because I don't have the time, other times because I can't think of anything interesting to blog about. What I'm realizing though, is that just because I don't find it interesting, doesn't mean other people don't.

The last 2 weeks have been quite hectic for me and I can't seem to catch up on my much needed rest. Last Wednesday, I had a 5 AM install to be followed with a full days work, work until 4:30 on Thursday and then another install to start at 10 PM that evening. Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep and was in the office from 10 PM till 7:00 AM, with no sleep. I got home around 7:30 and laid down after feeding the dog. Right as I fell asleep, the phone rang. I sent it to voicemail. I think I may have slept for about an hour before the doorbell rang. The salesman from the fence company was here to give me an estimate; but wait, I didn't call for one. I had forgotten that my neighbor came by the day before and asked if I would be interested in getting a fence because his guy offered a discount if we both got one installed at the same time. I told him to have the guy stop by when he came out to steak the yard to give me an estimate. Had I known it was going to be the next day, I would have answered differently. After he left, almost 45 minutes later, I went to lay back down, when my mom called an informed me that she would be coming out to finish hanging the curtains and help me clean my house for the At Home America party that I got roped into booking and at that very moment, was ready to cancel. The day proceeded on, I finally went to be at 2 AM after staying up chatting with my mom till we finally went to bed.

Tony woke me up at 7:15 the next morning to get ready for the wedding we had to go to in Bowling Green, MO. Thank goodness mom was still there to iron our clothes and get us some breakfast, or we probably would have been late; I was moving pretty slow. We went to the wedding, ate some pulled pork sandwiches at the reception and headed back to St. Chuck. Still no rest for the weary....Andrew and his 3 year old daughter Grace, who went to the wedding with us, hung out at the house for a little bit and Grace (my new BFF) wore my already tired butt out! All I wanted to do was take a nap, but we had to change clothes to go to Mike Williams 30th Birthday party. We had a blast, but it ended up being another late night and I had a lot to do on Sunday. We got up early on Sunday, went to breakfast, then to JC Penny to pick up more curtains that I ordered. Following that, we went to Rookies (rain-ed out) Car Show benefit. We stayed there till it was over a little after 4 PM (I had to see if I won the 50/50 and the basket I bid on...which I didn't win either). Then the Blues games was coming on. So we had to stay to watch that! Got home around 10, and passed out cold. This week, I had another 5 AM install on Thursday and this weekend is another one that is packed with another wedding and other BS that needs to be taken care of.

Is my tiredness a sign of aging? I never used to be this tired and went all week long without rest.

On another note, Michelle just left to go get the office custard. That could quite possibly perk me up a little bit, however the 9 lbs I just lost may be on their way back if I keep this stuff up!!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Printable Coupons

Over the past few months I've been really using the coupons that come in the mail in the Money Mailer envelope. Recently, about 2 months ago, I realized that these coupons were also available to be printed online. We use a lot of the restaurant coupons...and for the last 2 months, there have been Lion's Choice coupons - buy one get one free value meals. I was disappointed to see that those were not on the list for this month. However, if you visit a restaurant frequently, maybe there will be a coupon in here for you. There are also coupons for various other business, such as auto repair shops, dry cleaning, hair salons, etc. Check it out by clicking here.

Tomorrow is Earth Day - Get free Aluminum Foil!

Get a FREE roll of 100% Recycled Aluminum Foil from Reynolds Wrap by mail-in rebate on Wednesday (4/22). Head to the site starting at 4:22 a.m. ET to print out a rebate form. Each form is personalized to the user who prints it out.

You do not need to buy the aluminum foil on Wednesday, you just need to print out the rebate form that day. Also, look out for the $.55/1 coupon from the 4/19 Smart Source insert to turn this freebie into a money-maker.

Cost Cutting

So, I've always read Rachel's blog, but here lately, after seeing all the discounts and cost cutting she's been doing with coupons (not to mention all the freebies!) I've been watching a little more and more. I've also been visiting more and more blogs on where to get these coupons, how to get stuff free - or almost free, etc. Now, I'm not someone that will just buy something because its only .25. For instance, Just for Men hair color...I am not a man and Tony, well Tony has hardly any hair, so that would be worthless for me to get--even free! It would sit in a closet and collect dust. But Aquafresh Whitening Toothpaste - I'm all over that! So, from time to time on my blog now, you may see some deals that I've got...they probably won't be as good as Rachels, but then again she has a family and I don't so I'm less needy...lol. If your single like me, these might be some good deals for you!

PS - Rachel, do you think I'm getting a little more domesticated in my old age?

Sadness...

Why do they keep canceling my favorite tv shows? This season, 2 of my favorites are leaving: ER and Prison Break.

I have been watching ER since I was in 8th grade (what is that, something like 15 years or so?). Although the show has had its ups and downs, I still enjoyed tuning in on Thursday nights to see what doctor is doing who, what medical traumas are going on, and lived the life of a doctor vicariously through this show. Actually - it made me quite certain when I was in HS that I did not want to grow up to be a doctor. The shows final 2 hour episode was last night . I had darts last night so I haven't had time to watch it yet. I was impressed how the show brought back some of the old character from the beginning seasons like George Clooney, Julianna Marguiles, Eriq LaSalle, and one of my favorites, Noah Wyle. Its amazing how attached to these characters I got over the years.

This April also brings an end to my absolute favorite show right now, Prison Break. I've also been watching this show since the very first pilot episode and fell in love instantly. Its only on its 4th and final season, but it still makes me very sad. My Monday nights with Michael Scofield will definitely be missed. When Tony and I first started dating, he would call me to go out to dinner or something and I would agree to dinner at home, as long as I was on the couch watching my show by 7:00 PM. After weeks of this routine, Tony started getting interested in the show but was kind of lost as to what was going on. He sat down one afternoon to watch my Season 1 DVD's and was glued to that TV for over 12 hours! Season 1 is the best in my opinion by far; if you've never watched it, I can loan you seasons 1 & 2...they are well worth it.

So anyway, this post today is in memory of two of my favorite TV shows that are coming to an end. Please take a moment of silence in respect for the departing.

Friday Off To A Bad Start

Today has not started off well for me. I had dart league last night, which always means that I get home late and usually pretty intoxicated. Last night was no exception. So of course this morning didn't start off too well, not that any Friday does, but this one was worse than normal. The dog started barking at 6:30 which woke me up an hour early. On Fridays, I need as much sleep as possible to sleep off the potential hangover. So, because something got the dogs attention, my sleep was interrupted. After I went and let her out of her kennel, I went back to bed. When I woke at my normal time (7:30) I couldn't find the dog. I went back downstairs to find that she made a mess of her kennel - that I would now have to clean - HUNGOVER. I cleaned the kennel, and went back upstairs to take a shower. After my shower, I went back down to make breakfast. I put an english muffin in the toaster and fed Bella. After about 15 minutes, I couldn't figure out why my muffin wasn't done and realized the toaster was not plugged in. I plugged it in and tried again. This time, someone messed with the setting and I got a piece of charcoal instead of a muffin. I gave up and threw it away and went on without eating. Bella was done eating, which meant that she would need to go outside. Bella is usually very good about sitting patiently and not taking off while I attach her to the lead. However today, a rabbit was in the yard and she bolted, breaking my already broke nail even worse. My neighbors probably heard me cuss I yelled so loud. Now I have to drive around the neighborhood to find my ignorant little mut...however first I have to get dressed because I haven't made it that far in my morning routine. Aggravated, I went upstairs and threw on a sweatshirt and jeans and went to find her. I drove around for at least 15 or 20 minutes before finding her. Now I'm going to be late for work. Still need to dry my hair and put on my makeup and change my clothes. Needless to say, I'm at work, still in the same sweatshirt and jeans that I wore to go find my little mut.

I know it probably seems worse than it really was right now because I'm - not exactly hungover - just tired and now that I think about it, extremely hungry. Thank goodness I have nothing to exhausting going on this evening. Its a relaxing, fun filled evening of scrapmania with Rachel.

Obsessions

I am really not an obsessive person, just addictive. Over my course of life, I have developed these obsessions, which are basically just addictions, but in a fancy form of word that people can imply that you are nuts by using.

#1 - I am obsessed with the Twilight Saga books. I saw the movie after I read the first book of the series and honestly, I didn't think that it was as good as the books, which as they say, they never are. So what would possess me to buy the movie when it comes out on DVD...an obsession.

#2 - To prove my obsession, I changed my layout to all twilight...just to get the point across. And after a few days of looking at this, I will probably get sick of it and the obsession will go away.

#3 - I am no obsessed with vampires, nor do I want to be one. Unless becoming a vampire will make me lose 30 lbs. Then I'm all for it. Hey, I already have the pale skin, I'm definitely not a vegetarian - I order my steaks med-rare, and I really don't sleep all that well at night. So whats the difference, except that I would have sparkly skin...oh and skinnier.

#4 - I WILL NOT WEAR TWILIGHT ATTIRE, or dress my bed in Edward Cullen sheets, or tattoo lines from the movie on my wrist.

So, infact I do not have an obsession or an addiction, I just really liked reading the books and bought the movie.

Actually, in all reality, it really just gave me something to blog about after I was told that I was so obsessed because I ordered the movie after stating I didn't care for it.

Happy Hump Day!

St. Patricks Day #1

So, in honor of one of my favorite holidays, I've decided to blog about St. Patricks Day that is coming up in a few weeks. Even though I'm only in a low percentile Irish, I still love celebrating with all my friends. Every year, we go downtown to watch the parade then on to Maggie O'Briens to party in the parking lot after. Here are some pictures from the last couple of years...this year should be a great time too! You can see how we roll from the pics.

We make ourselves part of the parade...

We find guys in kilts...

And we find interesting photo opportunities!

More to come...

Blog Award

SO...I won my award for blogging...thanks to the nomination from Rachel (who know thinks that because I've been awarded I need to start blogging more often). So, here it is:

Along with this award goes text and my nominations...

These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight more bloggers who must choose eight more bloggers and include this cleverly written text in the body of their award.
...and then in traditional chain award style I have to pick some of you to pass it on to.

The problem is, I really only follow 3 blogs. However, I know people on Facebook read my blogs since they are linked to that website, and I've received many compliments on them. Of course that is not enough motivation to keep them up to date regulary.

So, here it is, my nominations:

To Jamie for Happy Hills - for getting me hooked to blogging since hers was the first that I read.

To Rachel for His,Mine & Ours - for giving me something entertaining to do at work everyday. I can always count on her to have something new posted.

To Riannon for Mom on a Mission - it must take a lot of time to post all the sales, coupons, etc. you do. Thanks for keeping my wallet in mind!

Other than these 3, I don't know of any others, so if you are reading this and have a blog, please comment with the name of your blog so I can follow it as well.

And now to my acceptance speech...I'd like to thank my English teachers throughout the years for making me so well versed and an interesting writer. To my brother for keeping my wit up. Thank to Tony for supporting me, even though you probably don't even know what a blog is. My my readers and my fans, without you this award wouldn't have been possible. To my parents for mating and producing me and to God...for keeping them from flushing me down the toilet on a tissue.

Finally....

I'm overly excited today...Tony FINALLY got a call for a job interview. He has been laid off since November 14th...which has made it a long 3 months. They seemed very interested in him, so hopefully, next week I'll be blogging about him going back to work!!!!!!!

Last night, I took my mom to see Celine Dion at the Scottrade Center. Man, I never in a million years expected to see so many people there. I would guess that it was almost sold out!! Much to my surprise, it wasn't a bad concert. I could have went to much worse. Most of her songs are played on the radio, so I knew some of the older ones. What baffled me is that she went on for 3 hours with no intermission. And wore stiletto heels through the whole concert. Overall, we had a good time. Its always nice to have some quality girl time with the momma. The opening act, Gordie Brown, was great. He is a comedian/impressionist. We laughed so hard...I wanted him to keep going. I will definitely watch him again!! Here is a clip from when he was on Letterman.

Are you proud of me yet?

I've posted so far everyday this week!!! Maybe I'm getting back to this...
So, I think its about time for a new car. I currently drive a 2006 Impala SS. I love my car...the power, the speed, the fact that its a 4 door with over 300 HP. Basically, I love cars. But, its out of warranty and now little things are starting to happen. I typically get rid of my cars every 5 years, but since this one is almost paid off and now that you can get a 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty, I'm justifying that as my cause for getting a new one.

I'm on the verge of ordering myself a new 2010 Camaro RS. I first actually saw this car as Bumblebee in the new Transformers movie and almost fell in love instantly, although I've always been a sucker for them since before I got my drivers license. Now I'm finally at an age that I can afford to insure one. I know this car is not practical, but its fun. Right now, I have no children, not too much debt, and would like to have a sports car before I'm 50 and going through a mid life crisis.

This is the special edition that I'm thinking about ordering...

Good Read...

So, I'm still at work, punished because my day still doesn't seem to have an end in sight. Therefore I thought I would blog real quick to pass some time.

In may waiting this evening, I finally finished Breaking Dawn. The ending was as predictable as I anticipated. Still making Eclipse one of my favorites in the 4 book series. I now question will she incorporate these books into the Harry Potter Monopoly and continue writing. I know Stephanie Meyer is already working on her next book, Midnight Sun, which is basically the first book, Twilight, only in Edward's perception. This will not help for movie sales, so will she put this project on hold yet again and continue the saga?

Now I need something else to read, something to pass the time at the gym and during these late work evenings. Anyone have any good reads that they would like to suggest?

Weekend Summary

I actually had a pretty good weekend!

Friday, I went scrapbooking with Rachel and some of her friends. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed it and can't wait to go again. It was a good time. Its not as hard as I thought it would be, but it did take me a little while to get started and figure out what I was trying to do.

Saturday, Tony and I went to the Blues game with Kevin & Laura, his friend and his wife from when he was in the Navy. Blues won 4-0, and it was a great game, great seats, great company. From there we went to Sundeckers and shut it down. Laura and I danced all night long...I haven't done that in forever. Then we finished up the night at Lumiere Casino, where Kevin won enough to pay for their night, and Tony and I found entertainment in watching some dumbass almost getting tased by security for throwing a chip at a dealers head. It was quite comical...after that, we took a cab to White Castles - which was ridiculous, but good. The cabbie was Kenyan, and Tony kept trying to get him to "click". Apparently, they click when the talk?? From there, we went back to the Sheraton, where Kevin and Laura were staying and passed out. It was a good time.

Yesterday we did nothing for superbowl. I needed some recovery time and had to work today, so figured it would do us both good to get some rest. I went a bought chips and snacks and we made pizza. It was a nice quiet evening alone, watching the game, and spending some time together. Although, I usually enjoy the commercials more than the game, but this year I was not impressed. Guess when the economy is down, so is the creativity in the superbowl ads.

Not Good Enough

So I was told that my previous blog is cheating and I need to post more. Just because I am looking to kill some time, I'll comply with the request.

Tonight I'm going to try my hand at a hobby many women are involved in...scrapbooking. I've always wanted to try it - although I'm not the most creative person in the world. I can be...but not when it involves patience. I'm also the queen of starting projects and never finishing them. I'm hoping that will change, but somehow I highly doubt it.

One of my resolutions for this year was to find a hobby that I enjoyed that didn't involve drinking. One of my favorite hobby's is playing darts, but for some reason, I just don't shoot well unless there is alcohol involved. Also, since Tony and I are quitting smoking this year, it would be a good time to find something to keep us out of bars so that we won't be tempted.

We will see how this goes...I wanted a cheap hobby, but after thinking about it, I really don't think there is such a thing!

25 Random Things About Me

I posted this on Facebook this morning, so I thought I would use this as my blog for today.

1. I figure skated competitively for 13 years and eventually taught lessons. Boy do I miss those days...and those thighs.

2. My brother is my best friend. No matter what, hes always there for me and understands me in a way that some of my very close friends never will.

3. My grandma just turned 95 last week. She looks awesome for her age and you would never believe that she is that old.

4. I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis at 14. I've had 4 surgeries, but it keeps spreading. I've been dealing with this for over 10 years and I'm at the point that I wish they would just take everything out. 2 more years...wish granted.

5. I'm addicted to teen-fiction-vampire-romance novels. I haven't actually sat down and read a book in years, but I finished all 4 700 page novels in less than a week. Actually, I have 100 pages to go in the last book, I just haven't had the time to dedicate to finishing it.

6. When I was a child, I wanted to be a writer and write books. I'm a very creative writer and love to write whenever I get the chance.

7. Speaking of writing, I am published. My college english/writing teacher published one of my homework assignments. A paper that I wrote for an assignment in a college writing class...a paper that I wrote at 2 am drunk as a skunk. It was a comparative essay titled... Santa Claus vs. The Easter Bunny.

8. In H.S., my best friend Val called me "dumbass" on the way to the dance for leaving the homecoming tickets at home. Guess it kind of stuck, because to this day, she still calls me dumbass....and so does her husband.

9. I'm a pretty good dart player. I've played in leagues since I was 17. I used to be better than I am now...could be better than I am now, but enjoy it more as a hobby than anything.

10. I love Marilyn Monroe & Elvis Presley. The good ones always die so young.

11. One of my favorite movies is Gone with the Wind. My grandma and I watched it as a little girl...how many little girls do you know that could sit through a movie that long? Other favorites is the Cutting Edge, Dirty Dancing, North & South, and Pearl Harbor. I could watch those again and again.

12. I'm dating the guy that I was infatuated with in high school. But he was off limits back then because he dated a friend of mine. I think after 10 years, its ok for me to date a guy that a friend dated briefly in HS.

2 Minute Thought of the Day

So, a certain someone said that I need to post more regularly on my blog. Even if it is only a two minute thought of the day. So, at your request here it is...

Bear with me, I've been up since 3 am and those that know me well, know that I am not a morning person. My brain cannot function that early or for the rest of the day for that matter. Which brings me to my 2 minute thought...I got 5 hours of sleep last night. Much more than some nights when I go to bed at 2 am and have to get up at 6:30 or 7. Why is getting 5 hours of sleep and getting up earlier such a problem for me?? I am going to have to leave soon to go home and take a nap just to get through the rest of my day. I don't normally need to do this.

Aside from the lack of sleep, I have dart league tonight, and I also have to get some pictures ready for scrapbooking with Rachel tomorrow evening. Why is it such a hard decision for me to decide what to scrapbook, I have tons of pictures, and not a clue of what to choose. No vacations recently, the idea I had, Tony procrastinated getting my pictures upstairs for me to scan them in so that is out of the question. Maybe I'll just take some random photos with me and mess around since this is technically the first time for me of doing anything like this!!

1 more before I go...I'm STILL reading Breaking Dawn - the 4th novel of the Twilight Saga. I've had less than 100 pages to go for over 2 weeks now. I have been busier than normal and haven't had time to sit down to finish it. When I do find time, I want to make sure I have enough time to finish it for good!! Hopefully, that time will come this weekend.
